Recent years, the Banner has constantly made efforts on forestry industry structure adjustment, industry development model innovation, potential market expansion and industrial transformation and upgrading.
At present, 1.27 million mu of material forest (for forestry and sand industry) base has been completed on top of ecosystem development in the forestry sector. Farmers have started to take initiative to build for-profit forest parks. The Desheng Youliang Village of Nuanshui Township has constantly expanded its apple planting base and close to 800 mu land village-wide is dedicated to planting the Ningfeng varietal. Riding the wave of the village’s greening moves, farmers planted 2,884 mu of a variety of fruit trees, indicating unprecedented morale in farmers for growing commercial produce.
At the same time, the Banner leveraged the advantages of local industrial development, and constantly enhanced its investment efforts, and offered policies, capital and infrastructure support to build two local companies producing plateau almond milk and Monteux Malus micromalus wine, which have an annual output of RMB 10,300 and sales income of close to RMB 94.5 million. More than 30,000 farmers have benefited financially. As of the end of 2016, total output in the Banner-wide forestry sector reached RMB 238 million and farmers’ per capita net income from forestry reached RMB 899.
The development of forestry sector has trailed open valid avenues for ecological development in forestry. The reverse pull of processing and utilizing forestry resources and the incentives from selling raw materials have prompted the vast farmer base to pinpoint the entry point to balance ecosystem development and production and lifestyle improvement, achieving the pleasing scenario where financial profit and environment protection are both prioritized in a virtuous cycle.
